Happy Friday Reader βοΈ
I realized something this week...
I don't know if I've ever properly introduced myself.
I've written hundreds of blogs, made hundreds of videos, and sent quite a few of these emails over the years.
But somehow I kind of skipped the whole βHi, I'm Mattβ part. π
So... Hi, I'm Matt.
About 18 years ago, at 21, I stumbled into an unpaid financial planning internship.
Yes, you read that correctly. I voluntarily chose to work an entire summer for approximately $0 (give or take).
And it ended up being one of the best decisions I've ever made.
About three weeks in, I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life.
Because at the heart of it, I get to talk to people all day.
And I love talking to people.
Everyone has their own story. Different goals, concerns, families, careers, and ideas of what they want the next chapter of life to look like.
And I get to play a small part in helping them create it.
It's hard to imagine doing anything more rewarding than that.
I also obviously make a lot of content online.
You probably know that already, considering it's most likely how you ended up getting these emails every week.
A big reason I make so much of it is because I've had thousands of real conversations with people who feel completely overwhelmed by all the financial information out there.
Sometimes more information isn't what we need.
Sometimes we just need someone to help make sense of it.
Anyway, some of you have been reading my blogs or watching my videos for years. Some of you I've had the pleasure of getting to know personally.
And some of you I've never actually met.
So I figured it was probably time I properly introduced myself.
I even made a 10-slide Instagram carousel for the occasion...
And it took me an embarrassingly long time.
So rather than recreate it here, I'll let it do the rest of the talking:
β A little about me + 1 embarrassing childhood photoβ
Fair warning: this post includes an unfortunate first-grade fashion choice, an unnecessarily expensive Tacoma, and obsession with a little known sport called Racquetball, and maybe more info about me than anyone asked for.
And no, despite my best efforts, my family still refuses to call me Safe Money Matt. π
Thanks for being here.
Matt
P.S. I now understand why people hire graphic designers. I am very clearly not one.
